NPORS Road Roller (N214) Course Content

 

It is envisaged that by the end of this course of training, the learner will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:

➢ Explain the hazards of working in the construction industry, and their responsibilities as a ride-on roller operator

➢ Identify and extract information from the manufacturer’s handbook/operator’s manual, and other information sources, including digital 

➢Locate and identify the major components, signs and decals, and all controls of the ride-on roller and explain their functions

➢ Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturers' and legislative requirements

➢ Identify and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) and appropriate safety control equipment for ride-on roller use

➢ Safely get on and off the machine

➢ Prepare the roller for movement by checking and adjusting the machine for operation

➢ Travel and manoeuvre the roller safely across varying terrain and inclines

➢ Conduct all necessary safety checks in the work area

➢ Compact a range of materials to specification

➢ Explain the environmental considerations of ride-on roller use

➢ Explain loading/unloading procedures for machine transportation

➢ Carry out all end-of-shift and shutdown procedures

Course duration

Novice course - 3 Days

Refresher - 1 day (Providing the current candidate has qualified for the category)

Experienced work tests (EWT) 1 day (Test only)

Assessments 

NPORS Theory assessment made up of open questions and multiple choice.

NPORS Practical assessment.

 

Certification

Traditional NPORS Card

or entrants that wish to apply for the NPORS Traditional Card, there is no requirement to do an NVQ qualification.  If the 'HS&E TESTED Logo' is required on the card, entrants must ensure they have attended and passed the CITB operatives touchscreen within the two years prior to application for the card.
