NPORS Excavation Marshall banksman (N027) Course Content

 

It is envisaged that by the end of this course of training, the learner will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:

Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry, and their responsibilities as an Excavation Marshall – Banksperson

➢ Know the equipment to be used and be conversant with Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and Permits to work

➢ Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for use

➢ Conduct all pre-excavating checks

➢ Agree on communication signals and emergency procedures

➢ Safe positioning of Excavation Marshall – Banksperson

➢ Define and identify the different types of underground services

➢ Identify risks that excavations can present and how people may be affected

➢ Conduct all necessary safety checks in the work area

➢ Carry out exploratory tasks

➢ Identify the risks of excavating near underground services, and the safe digging practices that should be adopted

➢ Carry out all end-of-shift and safe storage procedures

Course duration

Novice course - 1 Day

Refresher - 1 day (Providing the current candidate has qualified for the category)

Experienced work tests (EWT) 1 day (Test only)

Assessments 

NPORS Theory assessment made up of open questions and multiple choice.

NPORS Practical assessment.

 

Certification

Traditional NPORS Card

or entrants that wish to apply for the NPORS Traditional Card, there is no requirement to do an NVQ qualification.  If the 'HS&E TESTED Logo' is required on the card, entrants must ensure they have attended and passed the CITB operatives touchscreen within the two years prior to application for the card.
