RAMS creation and development

What are RAMS?

RAMS in construction stands for Risk Assessment Method Statements, which are essential documents that identify hazards, assess risks, and outline control measures for construction projects. They are crucial for ensuring safety on site and are a legal requirement. RAMS documents detail the risks, hazards, and control measures specific to construction activities, promoting systematic risk management. Essentially, RAMS consist of two key components: a risk assessment and a method statement, which together help in executing tasks safely.

What will the RAMS include?

A method statement and risk assessment is essential for planning and managing tasks in the workplace and is crucial for protecting your workforce and demonstrating your commitment to safety standards.

Risk Assessment: This section identifies potential hazards, assesses the likelihood of harm, and evaluates the severity of risks. It should include a clear description of the work to be carried out, location and duration, key staff and their duties, and a point of contact for updates.

Method Statement: This detailed document outlines how a specific task will be carried out safely, including the exact sequence, tools and equipment to be used, and the responsibilities of each team member. It should provide clear, unambiguous instructions to the site team on how to carry out the work safely and manage the identified risks.

Contextual Information: This includes any necessary background information about the project, such as the specific tasks to be carried out, the location, and the duration of the work.
