CPCS A75 Conveying pump course content

It is envisaged that by the end of this course of training, the learner will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:

➢ Describe the nature of the sector of industry and their role and responsibilities as a plant operator

➢ Name and explain the purpose of principal components, the basic construction, controls and terminology

➢ Conform with manufacturer’s requirements as per the operator’s handbook, other types of information sources and relevant regulations and legislation

➢ Undertake all pre-use checks and routine maintenance

➢ Configure and ready the pump for travel and operational site positioning

➢ Explain procedures and precautions to be taken when positioning, setting up and stabilising

➢ Explain actions required for hazards, underground services and overhead obstructions

➢ Set up pipework, delivery systems and connections safely and effectively

➢ Direct, receive and convey materials according to instructions and specifications

➢ Comply with signals, site safety procedures and working instructions

➢ Maintain safe working situations throughout pumping operations

➢ Carry out clean-out, washout, shut down and securing procedures

➢ Explain procedures for de-rigging, loading and transporting the equipment

Entry requirements

Candidates must have achieved the Operatives Health, Safety and Environment Test within the last 2 years, prior to the course start date.

 

Assessments

CPCS Theory assessment made up of open questions completed verbally with the assessor.

CPCS Practical assessment completed to CPCS standard criteria.

 

Certification

Learners will receive a Red CPCS Trained Operator Card on passing the CPCS technical tests, valid for two years.

After gaining on-site experience, you must complete an NVQ level 2 within two years to apply for the blue CPCS Competence Card which is renewable every five years.
