CPCS A68 Plant mover course content
It is envisaged that by the end of this course of training, the learner will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:
➢ Describe the nature of the sector of industry and their role and responsibilities as a plant mover
➢ Name and explain the purpose of principal components, the basic construction, controls, and terminology of plant machinery
➢ Conform with manufacturer’s requirements as per the operator’s handbook, other information sources, and relevant legislation
➢ Undertake all pre-use checks and ensure machinery is safe to move
➢ Configure and ready various plant items for transport and movement
➢ Explain procedures and precautions to be taken when moving plant over rough or undulating terrain and public highways
➢ Manoeuvre machinery safely in confined spaces and active site environments
➢ Identify and avoid underground hazards, overhead services, and ground instability
➢ Correctly position, load, and secure plant onto transport vehicles or designated holding areas
➢ Comply with signals, site movement plans, and instructions from marshals
➢ Maintain a safe working perimeter for pedestrians and other site users
➢ Carry out proper post-movement inspection, shut down, and securing procedures
Entry requirements
Candidates must have achieved the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test for Operatives within the last 2 years prior to the course start date.
Assessments
CPCS Theory assessment made up of open questions completed verbally with the assessor.
CPCS Practical assessment demonstrating the safe movement, maneuvering, and securing of plant machinery.
Certification
Learners will receive a Red CPCS Trained Operator Card on passing the CPCS technical tests, valid for two years.
After gaining on-site experience, you must complete an NVQ level 2 within two years to apply for the blue CPCS Competence Card, which is renewable every five years.
